- "The family that runs the hostel does a nice job of making you feel welcome and helping during your stay.
Given the expensiveness of everything on the island, we definitely feel like we got value for our money.
Airport pick ups and drops were very nice, as we're the flower necklaces upon arrival." - Is there anything you didn't like?
- "Location is a 20 minute walk from the town center. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but the route winds passed a cemetery (not ideal), and the island (and therefore the walking path) has the largest population of stray dogs I've ever seen (46 countries travelled). The dogs made the 20 minute walk uncomfortable for me, and anxiety-filled for my wife. Also, the hotel seems to have a septic tank-based sewage system. So from the evening through the night a bad odor would come from the bathroom drains and fill our room. Unpleasant. We'd leave the outside windows open, but bugs and small lizards would get in and make sleeping a pain... So we endured the smell. Overall cleanliness was not up to our North American standards, but livable. In the context of the island, we would call it fair, with an A for effort. Very little English was spoken at the hotel (one son of the family speaks English, but he isn't always around)."

We can really recommend the Island tour including Orongo, Rono Raraku and Anakena amongst other places."

- "I liked that they arranged to pick us up from the airport and take us back to the airport on time for our flights. The breakfast was provided, and the staff and pets (3 dogs) were very friendly. They made their best effort to offer advice in utilizing our short time wisely to see everything possible."

- "Hostal Akapu did not provide us with towels or soap of any kind."
