- "Room was a good size but was a suite . Location was good"

- "Only one radiator and room was freezing . Key card didn't work at first . House keeping a lot to be desired as we found eyeliner and eye shadow off previous residents . Bed was 2 singles put together so left with big gap in middle ."

- "Good size room, clean and tidy. Cheap happy hour meals. They provided
earlier breakfast for those like me needing it for Great North Run." - Is there anything you didn't like?
- "No onsite parking though long stay parking just behind hotel was very cheap (£1 a day). Price?? it was the cheapest I could find that was available on the Great North Run weekend but £145 for room only was a lot and cooked breakfast was £12.50 when all I wanted was scrambled egg on toast."

- "It's a very friendly environment, the staff are very helpful and pleasant. I liked it so much am staying there again over the New Year celebrations."

- "The worst thing about the Gibside is that is has no lift. Coming from Africa we are used to booking smoking rooms for those of us who smoke. I found it quite unusual that there are no rooms set aside for smokers. Also we stayed a week and the toiletries in the bathroom were not renewed the whole week that we were there. Also no face cloth was supplied with the towels. The staff were excellent with one exception. A foreign lady who works in the upstairs bar. She was actually very rude to my friend who came from Stanley to visit me. In a hotel of your calibre rudeness of any kind does not go down too well!."
