The Monastery of San Jerónimo, situated at Rector Lopez Argueta, was the first monastery built by the Catholic Kings in Granada after the capture of the city. Work will begin in 1519, and is a concession of the Catholic kings to the order of the Jeromes. It is a work of the Spanish Renaissance, formed by Church and Monastery. In the Church, is buried Don Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, together with his wife Doña Maria Manrique, upon request of the latter to the Emperor Charles V to grant the monastery and burial for the Great Captain and as a family vault, which will was granted in exchange for ending the Chancel. In this chapel is to highlight the magnificent altarpiece. The dispossession suffered by the French occupation prevents us now see the extraordinary treasure containing the church, mostly thanks to the exploits of the Great Captain.
