The botanical garden of the University of Granada, was constructed in the year 1783. The University of Granada recovered its garden thanks to Lorenzo Morillas, University rector, and Bernard Lapeyre, director general of the company Font Vella-Lanjaro. The garden is situated on the street named Duqesa in the Faculty of law of Granada, a living example of the botany of XIX century. There are 45 different species of trees and shrubs. It is important to mention an example, the Ginkgo biloba, is one of the firsts of this species which was seeded in the Iberian Peninsula, and only one of its species in the entire province. Among different species which we can find it is important to highlight: Canary Island Pine, Macassar, Japanese medlar, Sophora, American Persimmon, Crepe myrtle, Spruce among various other examples.
