- "Via Via is an outstanding choice in Valparaiso, our first trip there and we are so glad that we selected it. Only 5 rooms, it's intimate and private at the same time; we had the "Compagne" matrimonial room, with a great street and city hills view, large bathroom and giant shower, plenty of windows and a comfortable bed. The owners are Belgian, and as a result offer an amazing complimentary daily breakfast that reminded us of our many trips to Antwerp - freshly-squeezed juice, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee, breads and toast with sliced cheeses and meats - served personally either in their lovely dining room or outdoor terrace. They have great waffles and crepes and drunken stew with frites available in the restaurant (open to the public) on Tues-Sat; and of course, Belgian beers!
The location is outstanding in Cerro Alegre, just a block down from a strip of amazingly hip and creative local restaurants, and central to walking around to all of the city attractions. The immediate area itself feels very safe, but there is also a buzz-in and leave your key when you go out policy that adds a feeling of security to the overall experience when there.
The staff were among the friendliest and most genuinely helpful people that we encountered in all of Chile - and they all speak English, or at least try very hard to (which many Chileans do not!). Highly, highly recommended for couples - it's peaceful and romantic and a nice upscale oasis in a city loaded with hostels and, shall I say, less sophisticated lodging"

- "The hotel staff were amazing- so helpful and pleasant... They even helped us with recommendations of other places to visit in chile and how to get there. The ladies were generally just so accommodating- helping us to book buses and preparing breakfast early for us on the morning we left and ordering a taxi for us. They were also quite happy to help me with my Spanish which was excellent!
The breakfast was amazing and I also really liked how secure the building is... You have to buzz in and out and leave your keys at reception when you leave." - Is there anything you didn't like?
- "Keeping the original floorboards make the staircase and any activity happening downstairs in the restaurant very noisy of an evening. The water is not always hot because it's solar powered. I think it would be difficult staying here without knowing any Spanish because, depending who is working... Not a lot of English is spoken by the staff."

- "The very welcoming staff, the downstairs bar, the location."

- "The bathroom lighting was poor and it took a very long time to get hot water. Noise traveled up to the bedrooms from downstairs. It would have been nice to have a lamp in the bar area to be able to sit and read."

- "Good location, nice environment. Service was good and we liked the breakfast. It is not a big hotel but small is beautiful. Safe and decent. Suitable for young couple. The only problem was hot water - you need to wait for 10mins to get hot water flowing through. Recommended."
