"The staff did their best on the Sunday evening, but the bar and restaurant were busy and there were long delays. Although we asked about the evening meal when checking in, the person at reception suggested it was not busy after lunch and that we did not need to book a table. Consequently we had to eat later than planned. The food was adequate, but both at the carvery and breakfast had been sitting around and was not freshly cooked."

What did you like the most?
"Location in the cntre of historic city Attractive and spacious room"
Is there anything you didn't like?
"1/ The beds are too soft 2/ The restaurant. The evening meal was extremely disappointing: no choice of menu, just a carvery - which seemed to have been "on the go" since lunch-time! The first course was a selection of unappetising and very tired looking slad bowls, the contents of which seemed to consist of lettuce, lettuce and more lettuce: no flavour in any of them, and some others with a meat(?) content looking worryingly anonymous. When it came to the main course, the chef (apparently) refused to come out of the kitchen and carve and so another non-restaurant, member of staff officiated. The most worrying aspect of the meal, however, was the service. We were attended by a young waitress who was a nice enough girl, but who seemed to have received absolutely NO TRAINING. Her manner was unsmiling and brusque: passive/aggressive in fact. She showed no sign of having been taught the rudiments of how to be welcoming and pleasant to her customers. For this deficiency I blame the Management and NOT the young lady in question. Breakfast, while being hardly adequate with regard to choice of menu, was served by friendly, professional and mature waitresses."
