- "From the moment we arrived Carmel made us feel just at home, we received a very warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed her company. She is very interesting and endearing, brighting our day. The fishing village of of Nazare was amazing with lots of interesting towns a short and inexpensive bus ride away. The traditional food we had was definitely a highlight, one suggestion by Carmel really blew us away. We hope to return to Solar dos Carvalhos."

- "The only good thing that can be said about this place is that it would appeal to backpackers who want a central location close to all the action."
- Is there anything you didn't like?
- "The description on booking.com was misleading. The bedroom is so small there was nowhere to open or unpack our bags. The divan in the living room leaves little room for anything else. We used it for our bags leaving nowhere to sit. The kitchen was disgusting, poorly equipped, poorly furnished and grubby. The place is rated and charged as being suitable for 4 persons. They would have to very good friends and have small backpacks. 60 euros per night is a gross overcharge unless there are 4 backpackers sharing. The owner, Carmel, asks not to be disturbed before 9.30 am which is useless if you want to move on before then.In a word this place is third world. If I had my way I would not list this place on booking.com."

- "No breakfast included, no card payments, poor WiFi connexion."

- "The location was very central and our room had a view of the beach. However..."

- "... this also meant that it was extremely loud until late into the night. The apartment and kitchenette were poorly equipped. There was not even any soap in the bathroom and only two small towels for an apartment that is supposed to accommodate up to 4 people. Speaking of which, putting 4 people into this space would require a great stretch of the imagination as the second room is more like a small living room furnished with a small and very creaky bed. The wi-fi that is supposed to work throughout the hotel in fact worked only around the lobby area. At ?85/night, this accommodation is highly overpriced, especially considering the much better value one can find across Portugal, even in the high season."
