- What did you like the most?
- "Very convenient for both bus and railway stations, making it easy to
plan excursions by public transport. Shops and river walks also close at
hand. There is a W's in Church Street behind the hotel for reasonably
priced eating and drinking. The bedrooms are spacious, the beds
extremely comfortable and the wetroom-type showers a pleasure to use.
The furnished patio area behind the bar is a real convenience for
smokers and when it's too wet to go out there, there is a handy
sheltered alcove with ashtray next to the front door! For once, we
didn't feel like outcasts for wanting to smoke. The buffet breakfast is
well presented and of good quality, especially the wonderful sausages.
It was also good to see the chef testing the temperature of the hot
food. In spite of the minus points mentioned below, we would certainly
stay here again." - Is there anything you didn't like?
- "The bar prices! Lack of drawers or cupboards in bedrooms, as noted by other reviewers, means that personal items have to be tidied away into suitcase each day and there is no suitcase stand. As we stayed for 5 nights, it would have been nice to see some variation in the cooked items at breakfast, eg fried eggs occasionally and black pudding at least once. We were unable to find any way of displaying a programme guide on the tv, so it was pot luck and keep changing channels until you find something you want to watch. Presumably this is down to the system providers rather than Ramada but it was unexpected and tiresome, especially in a *** hotel. The lack of even a nominal discount for single occupation of a double room - most hotels will make some kind of allowance, especially when booked in advance."
