What did you like the most?: "The staff and owners were very attentive. We liked the refurbished bar ... if you were interested in wine etc there was a library to consult."
Is there anything you didn't like?: "We have stopped at Poppies before in a superior room which was far better than the room we were given. Room 4 did not have a proper en-suite ie the wash basin was in the bedroom and offered no privacy for washing. Not only that but it took a long time for the hot water to become hot. The above stopped us rating the hotel higher."

What did you like the most?: "My wife and I stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and had a great time. We received a warm welcome and the only problem we encountered (no hot water to the bath or shower) was swiftly dealt with.
We chose to have our anniversary dinner here and I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I've ever had. The service was outstanding. We then retired to the bar to sample some of the extensive selection of malt whiskies.
Breakfasts were lovely and the room we had (number 1) was spacious and spotless, the views to the hills were excellent.
Even if you're not going to stay here, i would recommend you make a booking at the restaurant as you won't regret it."
