- "A very friendly B&B in Pahoa, the innkeeper, Irene, was super
friendly and helpful. I was feeling ill the day I arrived from a week-
long cold, and Irene made me ginger tea immediately. I felt so much
better the next day. It's a motherly touch that a large resort
cannot replicated (which I stayed at before arriving at Lava Tree).
It's something so small as that that can change your entire vacation
and make it bettter. The home was clean and the breakfast was delicious.
Meeting the other guests was very nice as they gave advice on where to
go and not to go in the area. It's the intimacy that makes Lava Tree
Tropics Inn special if that is what you are seeking." - Is there anything you didn't like?
- "Not that I didn't like it... But I think travellers should be aware that it's located in the forrest area near Lava Tree State Park and off the main road a bit, so one should arrive before sunset or have gps to find it. Makes it a little easier especially for those not familiar with Hawaii."

- "We stayed as guests in Irene's house. Call it a B&B , but we
were welcomed as if visiting family. The location, away from Hilo city (
but close enough to visit) and in the middle of forest was a great
experience. Loved walking the grounds and birdwatching. We enjoyed the
morning sounds of birds, and roosters. Morning breakfast with visitors
from other countries or other parts of us, great converstaion. Great
star gazing, or cozy while a heavy rain. We like sounds of coquis and
crickets at night, so perfect. Hello Lazlo."

- "Quite an adventure to get there but worth it to meet the innkeeper. She made you feel like you were coming home and offered great information about the area. We found the area beautiful with Lava Tree State Park right beside us. We enjoyed exploring the coast and Hilo and to see all the botanical gardens."

- "The owner, Irene, was very hospitable, serving us fresh squeezed juice and fruit each morning, recommending wonderful places for us to see in the area and suggesting great places to eat and find entertainment. This countryside Inn is next to Lava Tree State park, not too far from some excellent snorkeling, hot pools and walks to see the lava flow. Ideally situated for exploring the east side of the island."
