- "I stayed at Hampton Inn and Suites Alpharetta-Winward Oct 26 - 27. Having booked a king suite with a Hilton related inn for my last night before returning home, this was actually supposed to be the highlight overnight stay on my round trip through the south-east of the USA. However, all in all it was below most rooms I stayed in during my trip, and they all came at a lower rate. Having booked a non-smoking room, I was first assigned a room, that had only recently been converted from a smoking room (this applies at least to the entire fourth floor). The smell was horrible and I couldn't stay in the room for more than two minutes. This must not be advertised as non-smoking room prior to extensive cleaning and make up (a little bit of spray will definitely not do)! The only other available room was 303, which had the almost continuous roaring of the ice and vending machines in front of the door plus the never ending beeping sound of the elevators. If the architecture of the buliding leaves no other choice but having half of the most expensive rooms at the most unfavorable location of the floors, why do they not at least install additional sound insulation on the doors? When I was unable to connect to the internet with my Opera browser, which I use as standard browser, and asked the front desk for help (I had to walk to the desk because the phone in the room was not working), they could not provide an answer and had to call for help. I had to wait much too long, and finally found out myself to connect through Firefox browser. The smell from the airconditioning when trying to heat the room from 62° to 73° in the morning was horrible; I had to stop it and open the window. When I wrote two e-mails to the manager after my stay, I didn't even receive a reply. I regret that I gave up a booking at a better rated nearby hotel in order to stay at Hampton Inn. If this is supposed to be Hilton standard, I can do very well without on my next trips to the U.S."
