The hotels à la carte restaurant is run by head chef Joaquín Torres, who has carefully created a menu including regional cooking dishes many of which are prepared with ingredients produced within the grounds.The air conditioned wine cellar contains a rich selection of wines and spirits.
In addition the hotel has private dinning rooms suitable for business or private lunches and dinners. This unique and charming hotel is a former convent dating back to the 17th century, lovingly renovated and set within the stunning grounds of a 7 thousand acre working farm.
Now a comfortable and inviting hotel, the restoration of the convent has not compromised any of the original style or character of the building. The attractive grounds offer guests an enticing outdoor pool with sun loungers, rolling lawns and within the estate it has its own reservoir and bird park, dairy farm, bull-ring, stables, pasture lands and interestingly an activity centre offering adventure sports.
All the rooms have been carefully decorated with antique pieces of furniture. The hotel building also houses typical Andalusian interior courtyards, which are small oasis? where you can sit coolly and quietly out of the sun.
Gerena is situated 23 km from the city of Seville and 35 km from the airport. -
Surrounding areas
El Esparragal is a working farm with a surface area over 7 thousand acres. The building is a 17th century Jerome convent and from the ancient Tartessians to the modern Andalusian, El Esparragal has been inhabited by Romans, Visigoths, Muslims and Christians. Why not take a guided tour of the estate. The paths that link every hamlet, the ruins of ancient villages, the convent, the hot baths, the mills and the mines reveal the way in which each historic civilization learnt to profit from this land. In the company of a qualified guide, you can visit the pure Spanish horse breed, Retinto bulls, the dairy farm (which produces 14 thousand litres of milk daily), as well as the Mediterranean forest (with 14 thousand hectares devoted to game), the mill, the Roman baths and a horse carriage museum. Other activities available are hunting, horse riding, fishing, mountain biking and walking.

- "The place itself. It's wonderful to have the opportunity of enjoying
such a quiet place in a great and typical property as a Cortijo is in
Andalucía. Everything was like you imagine it used to be: the huge
house, plenty of rooms and patios, anf all furnished as it was in the
old times (old furniture, old books, torero portraits), the horses, the
small plaza de toros. You can feel like a terrateniente, like the Señor
del Cortijo." - Is there anything you didn't like?
- "The breakfast is not included in the price. The wifi is not working really well. The indication to reach there is in the wors place possible."

- "Nice location close to the highway. Very quite. Nice room with large
bathroom. The ancient hacienda is very nice decorated and the rooms are
surrounding the patio'S. The park is nice for walking. If you like
bullfighting this hotel is decorated with pictures off matador,bull-
pictures even bullheads hanging at the walls." - Is there anything you didn't like?
- "Breakfast start only at 08.30 and diner at 20.30. Nothing to see on the tv no sat-TV.the swimming-pool is basic. No mini-bar or air-co. If you do not like bullfighting, this not your hotel."

- "Superb hotel in a great location for visiting Seville and the
surrounding area. Good for the independent traveller and those with a
sense of adventure who want to delve into Spanish rural life. The hotel
grounds are lush and the pool delightful. Dinner is fantastic, the farms
own beef is gorgeous and very reasonably priced." - Is there anything you didn't like?
- "There were times when getting drinks etc was difficult as the staff were not always around and there was no bar - drinks when ordered were brought out of the kitchen by the waitress/waiter."
