Then you must take E.R. 104, heading for São Vicente through the Tunnel, passing by Meia-légua, Serra d’Água, and Rosário until you arrive at São Vicente Village. There, near Restaurant Quebramar, you must proceed on the right lane, going over the bridge, for approximately 7 km.
Surrounding areas:65 kilometres away from Madeira Intercontinental Airport in Santa Catarina, Monte Mar Palace Hotel is located in beautiful Ponta Delgada, a parish in the municipality of São Vicente, on the north Coast of Madeira Island. Enjoy the privilege of visiting the Capela Histórica of São Vicente, a historic chapel placed less than 200 metres from the hotel or, if you would rather, have a nice 1 kilometre walk and visit the caves of São Vicente and the Volcano Centre, an astonishing underground recess, naturally wrought by the convulsion of volcanic lava. If you prefer sea sports, you can always go to Clube Naval of São Vicente, about 500 metres away, where you have a variety of surf and windsurf equipments at your disposal. If you like to combine physical exercise with dazzling sceneries, adding just a hint of adventure, then why not go all the way and go on a Levada walk (routes by the irrigation channels or water-courses), such as Levada do Norte, Levada do Folhadal, Levada do Lombo do Urzal, or even one of the many footpaths, only 2 kilometres away. There are other nearby sights, such as the Encumeada panoramic belvedere (14 km), the delightful naturally formed swimming-pools, the Aquarium and the Living Science Centre, in Porto Moniz village (15 km), the notorious Cabo Girão (15 km), whose 580 metres altitude makes it the second highest in the world and the highest one in Europe, and Santana village, with its Madeira Theme Park and its typical triangular thatched houses (20 km)
