Getting there:GPS: Hostal San Lorenzo. Latitud:.....N 40º 22´ 35´´ Gongitud: W 03º 38´ 26´´ The trip takes 15-20 minutes from the airport depending on traffic. Fares range from € 15 to € 20. Although most of the Madrid´s taxi drivers are very professional and completely honest, the Airport seems to attract a small number of scamp drivers. We have heard of cases where tourists were asked to pay 2 or 3 times the usual fare. Simply pay and ask for an official receipt (un recibo). We have also heard of taxi drivers trying to distract travelers from their destination and recommending high cost hotels where they get a commission. This is not the usual stuff but to prevent, be aware. The bus runs from the international terminal at the airport to the “Plaza de La Independencia” in the center of the city. The fare is about € 2.50. It runs from 6:00am till 1:00am. There you have two options: Take the subway at “Plaza de La Independencia”, the station is called Colón. Transfer at Bilbao and go to Gran Vía or do the transfer at Goya and get to “Sevilla” station is just a five minute walk from Hostal San Lorenzo. Take a taxi. The fare from Colón to the Hostal is around € 3 to 5. The price of a ticket for either the bus or the subway is € 0.95. If you are staying some days you can buy a 10 trip ticket costing € 5 (it´s more economic). At the airport you have to take Line 8 to the end of the line at 'Mar de Cristal' station. Switch to Line 4 toward "Argüelles" station. At "Bilbao" station take Line 1 toward "Congosto" and get off the train at “Gran Vía” station. Is just a 3 minute walk from us. All railway stations in Madrid are also subway stations. To reach Hostal San Lorenzo take the Metro to “Gran Via” station. From there it is a 5 minute walk. If you are driving a car, you can park it just in front of us, in a public car park at “Plaza Vázquez de Mella”.
