About Hostal Loreto

Hotel Hostal Loreto is a comfortable, family run hotel with 43 bedrooms and a lively café/restaurant. The building dates from the sixteenth century and is a former nunnery. It is located in a pedestrian area in the medieval centre of the old town close to many shops and restaurants and overlooked by a Moorish castle. It is rumoured that a secret tunnel ran from the old nunnery to the castle. The hotel has recently been refurbished and all of the bedrooms have air-conditioning, flat screen televisions, ceiling fans, safes (personal security boxes) and private bathrooms with shower or bath and a hairdryer. Some bedrooms have a small balcony.

There are many water sports available in the local area including scuba diving, sailing, boat hire, wind-surfing and kite-surfing. There are also facilities for golf, hiking, horse riding, tennis, mountain-biking and climbing. We can supply entry tickets with special discounts for many attractions which are only a short drive away such as Terra Mitica (adventure park), Terra Natura (nature park), Aqualandia (water park), Mundomar (sea-life park) and the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (science park) in Valencia.

The hotel has an excellent restaurant and can offer half and full pension arrangements if required. Continental breakfast is included in the price of the room. It is also possible to enjoy a snack or a drink at any time of day on our busy street terrace or in our tranquil internal 16th century patio. Hotel guests are welcome to participate in activities which take place in the hotel such as weekly Ti-chi and dancing classes. The hotel has a secure private parking which is available for the use of hotel guests for a small extra charge.

Getting there:

By car When entering Denia from the A7 take the second exit from the roundabout after the petrol station (on the lefthand side of the road). Drive straight down the Av. de Valencia until you reach the no-entry signs (at the end of the Calle Loreto!). Turn right into the Plaza Valgamedios and turn immediately (sharp) left into the Ronda de las Murallas. At the roundabout take the second right and follow the Ronda de las Murallas around the castle walls (the street name changes to Sanchis Guarner, then Fora Mur and finally to Calle de la Mar on the other side of the castle). At the end of the Calle de la Mar drive straight-on towards the Plaza Constitucion ignoring the dead-end signs (do not follow the main flow of traffic turning left into Calle Diana). Turn right onto the square (Plaza de la Constitucion) and exit left into Calle Loreto where you will see the Hotel in front of you. If the hydraulic bollards are blocking the street, walk to the Hotel and ask the receptionist to open the street for you. After unloading your luggage a parking key can be obtained on payment of a small deposit. If you arrive in Denia by ferry then drive to the roundabout at the junction of Calle de la Marina y Valencia and Calle Benidorm. This is easily recognised because of the large steel sculpture on it. Turn into Calle Benidorm and turn left at the first set of traffic lights into Calle Dr Fleming. At the T junction turn left onto the Ronda de las Murallas and proceed as described above. By bus Walk towards the supermarket at the bus station and turn right into the Calle de la Via. Take the first turning on the left into Calle San Jose and walk to the T junction with Calle Loreto. From here you can see the hotel on your right. By train Cross the Plaza Oculista Buigues in front of the station and walk towards the main shopping street the Marques de Campo. Turn left into the Marques de Campo and walk to the square Glorieta del Pais Valencia. Turn right into Calle del Cop and proceed to the Plaza de la Constitucion. Calle Loreto is the second street on the left off the Plaza. By ferry If you are on foot, depending on which pier the ferry has docked at, proceed either via Marques de Campo (see train instructions) or via Calle de la Mar (see car instructions). If you are driving follow the car instructions above.

Surrounding areas:

Within a short walking distance of the hotel are 20 kilometres of beautiful beaches, excellent ferry links to Ibiza and the Balearics (Majorca and Minorca) and train and bus stations. The trip to Ibiza takes just over two hours on the fast ferry. The journey time from Alicante airport or Valencia airport to Denia is about an hour by car on the AP-7 motorway. The city itself is a bustling historic port with its own fishing fleet and two marinas protected by the hilltop castle and surrounded by acres of orange groves.
